CFA Welcomes New GM Tyrone Hendrix
CFA warmly welcomes Tyrone C. Hendrix as the union’s new general manager. Hendrix is based at the Sacramento office, where he began his new post October 1.
Hendrix comes to CFA from Mississippi, where he served as Executive Director of the Mississippi Association of Educators from 2017 to 2020. Hendrix also was elected to the Jackson City Council in 2014 – serving as president in 2016-17 – where he helped craft the city’s living wage ordinance, and authored the city’s Equal Rights Ordinance, which provides civil rights protections for the LGBTQIA community in the city of Jackson – a first for any city in the state of Mississippi, earning recognition by the Human Rights Campaign.
“Tyrone’s experience and expertise in anti-racism and social justice advocacy, in government relations and political action, and in community organizing will help anchor and lead CFA’s continuing strong work in these areas as they intersect with all union business,” CFA President Charles Toombs said.
