INFOGRAPHIC: Student Enrollment Snapshot - Asian & Pacific Islander Students
Since 1985, the number of Asian and Pacific Islander students at the CSU have increased 4.3 percent.
Overall, the CSU student body has become more diverse over time, when in 1985, 70 percent of CSU students were white.
However, the following data does not tell the full story of AAPI students in the CSUs. The pervasive myth of the “model minority” erases differences between individuals and ignores diversity among our AAPI students. This harmful stereotype also downplays the challenges faced by our AAPI students from discrimination to language barriers to bullying. That is why we – CFA, AAPI faculty and students in the CSU – are calling for disaggregation.
