CFA and CSU Meet, Agree on Vaccinate Mandate Policy
Since the Chancellor’s announcement on a vaccine mandate on July 29, CFA leaders have been meeting with management on this policy.
Union leadership is satisfied that the CSU has met its obligations to meet and confer with CFA regarding these changes to faculty working conditions.
CFA leaders said they have no further questions or concerns to express about the workplace rules, implementation, exemptions, privacy, or other aspects of the policy.
To be clear, the union is not waiving and cannot waive any individual rights of Unit 3 members that are beyond the scope of HEERA.
As mentioned in an August 19 letter from CFA Officers, leaders fully support the vaccine mandate and urge all faculty, staff, students, and community members who can get vaccinated to do so and help control this global pandemic that has caused such pain and suffering for the last 18 months.
“We have a moral responsibility to make sure all our faculty, staff, and students are safe and healthy this upcoming year. Scientists and public health experts indicate the best available way to do that is through vaccination,” CFA Officers wrote in an August 19 email to CSU faculty.
