CFA Leaders to Present During SEIU Higher Ed Town Hall
CFA LEADERS TO PRESENT DURING SEIU HIGHER ED TOWN HALL: This election is the most consequential of our lifetimes. Higher education is on the ballot. CFA is helping lead the charge to say #MyVoteIsEssential.
CFA and SEIU Florida Public Services Union are teaming up this Friday, October 23 at 10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST to raise awareness on how this election will impact higher education. Both unions represent some of the largest and most diverse colleges and universities in the US.
SEIU FPSU represents 19,000 workers in eight counties, 16 cities, three Head Start agencies and four school districts across Florida, including Miami-Dade College.
The town hall will focus on the need to turn out the vote and place the needs and demands of workers front and center not just on Election Day, but post-election as well. Demands include safe campuses, support for campus workers through good paying union jobs, and increased public funding for public colleges, especially those serving Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC).
Theresa Montaño, a Chicano and Chicana Studies professor at Cal State Northridge and a CFA leader, will be a moderator for this event.
