UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS: Lecturers who wish to obtain unemployment benefits should file for unemployment the day after the last official date of their Spring 2019 academic term, not when you file your grades if before the end of term.

An update to the Lecturer Unemployment Rights Supplement Guide is currently underway, and will be posted on our Lecturers Council homepage soon.

SURVEY SAYS: CalSTRS is conducting a survey this month to gather demographic information and assess members’ feelings and messaging about retirement.

The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) provides retirement benefits to public  pre-K through community college educators. CSU faculty retirement is provided by CalPERS, but if you’ve previously taught in the K-12 public school system, you may also be enrolled in CalSTRS.

Responses are confidential and will not be used to update any official CalSTRS record. The data will be reported at a future Teacher’s Retirement board meeting and key findings will be included in future member communications.

Members interested in taking the survey who do not receive the invitation email may contact the research group with their Client ID and email address at CalSTRSSurvey@CalSTRS.com or by calling (916) 414-4975.
