CFA Statement of Support for Striking University of California Workers

The California Faculty Association is in solidarity with our public higher education colleagues in the University of California system, members of the Union of Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE-CWA 9119) and American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME-3299), who are on strike. These UC staff provide the labor and technical support that enables the University of California to provide quality public higher education to the students of California.

The California Faculty Association is a progressive labor union representing 28,000 faculty, librarians, coaches, and counselors in the CSU systems. As a union, we advocate for higher educational opportunities for all, including quality education for our students, policies that ensure access to higher education, and fair working conditions for the faculty.

As a labor union, we understand the divide and conquer strategies that management employs, and we support our union siblings of the UC System in their efforts to secure stable and supportive working conditions and fair and just compensation.  As faculty, we understand that without staff support, we cannot achieve the fundamental mission of providing quality public higher education to the students of California.
